Birth and Death:
Margaret Hamilton was born on August 17,1963.


Academics and Accomplishments:
Margaret Hamilton had a great passion for math, following her passion she earned a BA in mathematics from Earlham College in 1958. In 2009, Hamilton was awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award by Earlham College. She received the Augusta Ada Lovelace Award from the Association of Women in Computing. She was also awarded the NASA Exceptional Space Act Award for scientific and technical contributors. Barak Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom for leading and developing the software for Apollo Moon missions for NASA.

Impact on computer science:
She has made a great influence to the world of computer science. Hamilton led the development of on-board flight software for Apollo Moon missions for NASA . She became the CEO of Hamilton Technologies, Inc. This was developed around a universal system language based on Margaret's DBTF for systems and software design. She was credited with developing the software for Apollo and Skylab. She was one of the first computer software programmers and led the software engineering division at MIT.
