Birth and Death:
Alan Turing was born on June 23, 1912 and died on June 7th, 1954.

Academics and Accomplishments:
As a student, Turing was educated at a top private school and entered the University of Cambridge to study mathematics in 1931. He then graduated in 1934. He was a brilliant mathematician, before he earned his masters degree, he made the second most important academic paper to the 20th century. Turing also has an award named after him called the "Turing Award". This award is considered to be the Nobel Prize of computer science.

Impact on computer science:
During World War II, Alan Turing broke the German Enigma Code. Turning made an immense impact on our world today. He decided to take on the Decision Problem and imagined the hypothetical machine. The hypothetical machine would read a tape of symbols, rewrite or erase the symbol before shifting the take left or right. He then called this hypothetical machine the computer. Computers have made everything fast and accessible, and it wouldn't have happened without Alan Turing.
